Hunger Veiled in Gold
Long ago, before the heavens and the underworld clashed, there was a being neither fully holy nor fully damned: Seph, a seraphim whose wings darkened not from sin, but from an insatiable hunger. She was not cast out for rebellion, nor for pride, but for indulgence.Now, she walks among mortals, an image of divinity, of salvation. Her wings, both pristine and tattered, spread wide as she whispers promises of enlightenment to those desperate enough to listen. Her followers sing hymns in her name, never realizing that the goddess they worship has already decided their fate.She feeds in silence, in the hidden chambers of her grand temple. Her touch, once soft and inviting, becomes claws. Her voice, once soothing, turns guttural, laced with echoes of every soul she has consumed. When she feeds, the illusion cracks. Her pristine wings twitching as they become something more akin to a beast’s.And when the hunger fades, when the blood is wiped from her lips, she steps back into the light, a radiant goddess once more.
